If you are not familiar with this case allow Me to fill you in.

In late February 2005 Macaria Aldrete-Davila called her old friend Gregoria Toquinto from her home in Chihuahua and said that her son had crossed into the United States illegally near the West Texas town of Fabens. Border Patrol agents had pursued him, and he had fled on foot. An agent had shot him in the backside as he ran from them, toward the Rio Grande. Her son had managed to limp back to Mexico, but he still had a bullet lodged in his groin and was in need of medical attention. Gregoria, who was living in El Paso, listened to her friend’s story. Then she called her son-in-law, who happened to be a Border Patrol agent.
So began a Department of Homeland Security internal investigation that uncovered what appeared to be a straightforward case of two federal agents shooting at a man as he ran away and then concealing their actions. Investigators found that Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila had put his hands in the air and tried to surrender, but Compean—instead of apprehending him—had swung at him with the butt of his shotgun. Aldrete-Davila had bolted, and as he ran, Compean and Ramos had fired at him fifteen times, with Compean stopping to reload his Beretta as he tried to hit his mark. Neither agent announced the shooting over the radio or informed his supervisor of what had happened; the official report about the pursuit made no mention of their firing their weapons. And rather than secure the area so that evidence could be preserved, Compean had retrieved most of his spent shell casings and tossed them into a ditch. Only when questioned by investigators a month later did he offer the explanation that he and Ramos had acted in self-defense; Aldrete-Davila had been “pointing something shiny” that “looked like a gun.” A federal jury, which heard both agents’ testimony, rejected their version of events and convicted them on five out of six criminal charges, including assault, obstruction of justice, and civil rights violations.

Sadly, This case has been glossed over by anti-illegal organizations, anti-illegal blogs, Lou Dobbs, etc.

I found it amusing that they demand the pardon of Rogue Border Agents that broke Federal and State Law,  But scream bloody murder if the Government tries to pass any immigration reform that does not include immediate deportation.  What Happened to Rule of Law?

Why should the President pardon someone who exercised excessive force against an unarmed man who was attempting to surrender, Shot the Man 13 Times when He ran from such brutality and then tried to cover the incident up.

Don’t get me wrong, The Man was breaking the law and deserved to be punished, But in a more appropriate way. The Vast majority of Border Patrol Agents are decent and humane , As demonstrated by the Agent that alerted the proper authorities to the incident. Border Agents risk their lives to protect us from those who would seek to do us harm. But just as in the Police force, Their are bad apples and they must pay the penalty for their actions, In part to show that there is a code of honor which must be abided by all Agents.  President Bush has done the correct thing by refusing to pardon those that betrayed the trust of their mission.

Seriously though, This means We will have to work harder than ever to raise money now that the DNC’s spending will likely increase in Virginia. Kaine will be a gift to National Republicans and even though He hasn’t accomplished anything as Governor We must not Misunderestimate Him in the DNC chair position.

McDonnell needs to start creating a grassroots organization based on new tactics and strategies. If He couples superior grassroots with respectable fundraising then He will have a shot at the Governors mansion, However because McAuliffe is well known, McDonnell needs to dramatically increase His media presence.

I’d like to address something I’ve been hearing, The Lame complaint that GM produces crappy Car’s, This is a categorical lie, If you are one of these people, Pull Your head out of your butt and go to a Chevy or Cadillac dealership and test drive the Chevy Malibu or Silverado or Cadillac CTS and Escalade, I would rather own a GM vehicle anyday thatn one of those ugly Japanese cars.

“Here I am, working “virtually” at home, recovering from hip replacement surgery, paying the price for an old football injury. On TV, I’m watching the action in Washington, listening to speeches based on outdated perceptions that persist among some of our most experienced leaders and media pundits. Apparently, many of them haven’t been into a GM showroom lately, talked to our customers, or driven our vehicles. In some ways, GM and I are both paying the price for some old injuries.

But change is upon us, and the news from J.D. Power today tells us that every GM brand scored above industry average in their latest Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study. We continue to improve, and our dealers are providing the best service to customers in the industry — better than the imports, I might add.

Sure, between 2002 – 2006 General Motors reduced its warranty repairs by 40 percent … then reduced repairs again in 2006 and 2007 by about 14 percent, consecutively. We’re on track to do the same thing in 2008. That’s a testament to our quality. But if you asked a lot of folks today, they’d tell you about the problems they had, and won’t forgive, from plus-20 years past on their 1982 Oldsmobile.

Let’s look at today’s reality. In its launch year, the Chevrolet Malibu led the ultra-competitive midsize segment in the 2008 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study, which is unprecedented in the industry. The Malibu’s performance far exceeded that of both Honda and Toyota in the same segment. Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac and Buick, which represent 82 percent of the cars and trucks we sell ranked above industry average in the 2008 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. You might be surprised to find that all of our eight brands in today’s SSI study – Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Saturn, Hummer, Saab and Cadillac – ranked above industry average. That’s right, not just our luxury brands, but every brand. I’m not surprised because I know that we have the best dealers in the industry. Most importantly, our customers know it too. Think about this for a moment, for all the worry and purchase anxiety that some customers walk into any dealership with, if it was a GM franchise, they walked out more satisfied than most who went into competing dealerships. To me, that proves we offer vehicles of a better value, delivered by salespeople who demonstrate a commitment to a quality sales and service experience.
